Turning off Google Chrome SameSite Cookie Enforcement

By Kristine Morical
Google Chrome 80 introduced SameSite cookie enforcement in February 2020 with the goal of improving privacy and security across the web. They are now temporarily rolling back the enforcement due to issues on some websites providing essential services. The SameSite cookie enforcement can cause login issues with the Siteimprove CMS plugin integration.
If you are having login issues due to SameSite cookie enforcement, you can disable the enforcement as follows:
- Enter the following into your browser location bar and select “Disabled” in the drop-down.
chrome://flags/#same-site-by-default-cookies
-
Select the “Relaunch” button.
- Enter the following into your browser location bar and select “Disabled” in the drop-down.
chrome://flags/#cookies-without-same-site-must-be-secure
-
Select the “Relaunch” button.
Your changes will take effect after the relaunch of Google Chrome.
